Who We Are

Our History

Westview Baptist Church had humble beginnings as a new mission of Normandy Road Baptist Church in Royal Oak, MI, with a clear mission—to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Warren, MI area. Established on the foundational principles and commandments of Jesus found in the Word of God, this mission embarked on its journey with a fervent spirit.

The first service of this new mission took place at Ford School on October 25th, 1964. The grace of the Lord shone upon this new endeavor, leading to the acquisition of four lots at the corner of Stephens and Dormont in 1965.

On February 7th, 1965, this mission reached a pivotal milestone—it was officially constituted into Westview Missionary Baptist Church, with twenty-three devoted charter members. The very foundation of the church, a physical representation of its spiritual roots, was poured on August 21st, 1965. Notably, throughout the entire construction process, the majority of the work was undertaken by the dedicated members of the church.

The spirit of unity and shared commitment continued to define Westview Baptist Church. Its history is a testament to the unwavering support of its members and the blessings bestowed upon it through the faithful individuals added to its congregation by God.

On April 10th, 1966, Westview Baptist Church conducted its first service in the basement of the newly constructed building. Although the auditorium was not yet complete, the dedication of the congregation was evident, with forty-four attendees marking this significant occasion. The official inauguration of the new building took place on Easter Sunday, March 26th, 1967, symbolizing a new chapter in the church’s journey.

As the years unfolded, Westview Baptist Church continued its mission to reach the Warren community. The church leadership and members fervently pray that the Lord will sustain and empower Westview Baptist Church to remain a shining beacon of light in Warren, MI, and the surrounding communities. May the church’s journey be marked by continued growth, unwavering faith, and a profound impact on the lives it touches.

Our Beliefs

Independent

We are a truly independent church, as were all the churches of the New Testament. We are not affiliated with any man-made external organization be it a Convention, Association, Fellowship or Mission Board. Our only Head is the Lord Jesus Christ, our authority is the Word of God and our only headquarters is in heaven. We fellowship with sister churches of like precious faith and practice, and support missionaries sent forth by the authority of such churches.

Fundamental

We affirm without apology the doctrines frequently identified as the “Fundamentals of the Faith,” which include the deity, virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and imminent return of Jesus Christ.

Separated

We believe that Christians should bring forth the fruits of salvation in their lives and that their relationships with Christ should affect every aspect of their lives.

Salvation by Grace through Faith

We believe that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Those who will believe upon Jesus Christ through repentance and faith are redeemed, quickened, and saved, not by themselves, nor through their own works, but only and wholly by the power of God. We believe that we are responsible to do our part in ensuring that the gospel is carried throughout the world.

King James Bible Believing (Textus Receptus, Masoretic Texts)

We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. We believe that God has preserved His very words in the transmission of His Word as found in the Greek Textus Receptus and the Hebrew Masoretic Text. We believe that the Bible as we have it today in the King James Version is the Word of God in the English language. It is the preserved, inspired Word of God. We use no other version of the Bible for teaching or preaching.

Our goal is to help children learn more about Jesus and what it means to have a personal relationship with him! We want to share the love of God and His Word with your child every week. We know it’s important to not only meet kids where they are just as God does with us, but to also show them that God is capable of doing awesome things with their lives. Most importantly, we want kids to know Christ, to grow in His Word, and to go tell others about God’s love.
