Foster Families Ministry — Foster & Adoption Support Group in Warren, MI
Led by Randall Carson · Meets at Westview Baptist Church, 2140 Stephens Rd, Warren, MI 48091
A community of families walking this road together
Foster care and adoption are beautiful callings — and some of the hardest work a family will ever do. The trauma, the waiting, the court dates, the hard behaviors, the love that keeps showing up even when it’s not returned yet. You were never meant to walk this alone.
Westview Baptist Church hosts the Foster Families Ministry, a Christian support group for foster, adoptive, and kinship families in Warren, Macomb County, and the greater Detroit area. Come for encouragement, practical help, prayer, and real conversation with people who get it.
Who this group is for
- Foster parents — currently fostering, retired foster parents, or considering a license
- Adoptive parents — private, agency, international, or through foster care
- Kinship caregivers — grandparents, aunts, uncles, and relatives raising a child who isn’t theirs by birth
- Those considering — if you feel God nudging you toward foster care or adoption and don’t know where to start, come
What we do together
- Share and listen. Honest stories, no judgment. What worked this week. What didn’t.
- Pray. For the kids, for the bio families, for the caseworkers, for each other.
- Learn. Occasional topics from a trauma-informed, biblical perspective — attachment, behavior, self-care, what Scripture says about the orphan and the fatherless.
- Connect. Meals, respite, babysitting swaps, hand-me-downs, and the kind of friendships that carry you through the hard weeks.
- Rest. Sometimes the best thing the group does is give you a space where you don’t have to explain the last six months to anyone.

Why a church support group?
There are excellent secular support groups in Michigan — and we’ll gladly tell you about them. But a church support group offers something different: Scripture that speaks directly to foster families (“pure religion before God… is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction” — James 1:27), a theology of adoption (“You received the Spirit of adoption as sons” — Romans 8:15), and a body of believers committed to helping you not just survive this, but see God in the middle of it.
You don’t have to be a member of Westview Baptist Church. You don’t have to be a Christian. If you’re open to conversation about faith, you’re welcome at our table.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to be a Westview Baptist Church member?
No. The group is open to any foster, adoptive, or kinship family in the Warren, MI area regardless of church membership or faith background.
I’m considering fostering but haven’t started the process yet. Can I come?
Yes — come early. Hearing from families already in it is one of the best ways to make an informed decision.
What ages of kids do your families foster or adopt?
Everything from newborns through teens. Some families are focused on sibling groups; others on specific needs. Whatever season you’re in, there’s someone here who’s been there.
Is childcare provided?
Yes. Childcare is provided on-site during meetings so parents can be fully present.
Will there be speakers or trainings?
Occasionally. Most meetings are support and community. Every few months we’ll bring in someone — a therapist, an attorney, a licensed social worker, or a Bible study on the theology of adoption.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no cost to attend the Foster Families Ministry. Childcare is also free.
I need help right now — can I talk to someone before the next meeting?
Yes. Use the chat at the bottom right of this page, schedule a Coffee with Pastor, or call the church. Randall or a pastor will get back to you within 24 hours.
