THOU GOD SEETH ME
Have you ever felt invisible? Like does anyone see me, does anyone really know what I’m going through? Does anyone understand me? Have you ever felt the work you do at home or at church goes unnoticed or unappreciated?
I think we have all gone through times in our lives when we feel all alone, and no one really can understand what im going through. And sometimes that is true, no one does know everything you are going through we are all so different . in personiality, how things affect us,what stages of life we are in. We all react to circumstances different than others.
I want to tell you a true story about a woman in the Bible , and the trouble she was in and how she reacted it to it.
But first let me tell you how I came across these four little words with so much meaning. One morning as I was reading in Gen.and was have paying attention, any one else do that? and came to the verse at Gen 16:1 and those four words kind of stood out to me and so I reread it several times, until I felt them sink in and was actually telling me that He sees me…he really sees me and knows all the intimate things in my heart, my fears, my wants, desires, heartaches,than the tears started coming about the fourth time I reread those words..It wasn’t just one thing that morning, but sometimes you get overwhelmed with things and life, even feel totally helpless to fix a situation, as we all try to do our selves sometimes.
So I had to go reread what I had missed , why were these words right here..which brings us to the story of abram (Abraham) and sarai (sarah) and her desire to have a baby, which brings us to the little maid Hagar, we don’t think about her much when we read this story, or think about what she went through..
So this couple was in their 80”s and Sarah just did not believe that she would ever conceive, so she took matters into her own hands, in Gen 16:2 “and sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I Pray thee, (don’t think she really prayed) lol ,go in unto my maid;it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai, ( never even questioned it) looks like..really? I need emolijis here… so Hagar being a servant had no choice in the matter,so whether she got pregnant right away , it doesn’t say, but Hagar did conceive and she began to despise Sarah and sarh turned around and blamed Abram in verse 5 it says “My wrong be upon thee, I have given thee my maid into the bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despiced in her eyes:the Lord judge between me and thee…verse 6 says, “ But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt harshly with her, she fled from her face..
So we can just imagine what Sarai said or did to Hagar, but it was enough to make Hagar flee and she stopped at a well in the wilderness where the angel of the Lord met her there and asked her two questions,
‘Hagar, slave girl of Sarai’…..He Knew her name,’”Where have you come from? And where are you going? Now I figured if He knew her name . he knew those answers already…he than proceeds to tell her to return to her mistress and submit to her,” What? Can you imagine her thoughts, to go back to the abusers who she just fled from..But than He tells her HE will greatly multiply her seed greatly..If you haven’t read and really paid attention to this story.
You need to read it with maybe different eyes..
Hagars response was to give God a name. “thou God Seeth Me” and than she turned and went home, obeyed the Lord..I’m going to surmisethat she went back with new hope, maybe her back a little straighter,ready to take on her life again because of God’s promise, and she had been seen of God.
Did her misery go right away, was Sarai still jealous of her, did she still mistreat her? The Bible doesn’t give those details..
But in Hagar’s misery she was SEEN and HEARD and BLESSED by God, and she was on a first name basis with the GOD WHO SEES!
Remember Job’s story, he lost everything, family, possesions, health, Did God see Him? I know he did, he blessed jon with more than he had lost.
Did God see the 3 Hebrew boys as they were thrown into the fire?
He was right there the whole time!!!
I know there are things in life that we will never understand, or feel totally helpless in dealing with health issues or family issues .but you can be sure of this “ THOU GOD SEETH ME! THOU GOD SEETH YOU!!
Remember HE sees you when you are feeling hopeless…
He sees you in the night hours when you are alone and face some of your fears about tomorrow.
He feels your heartache, He sees your tears, He Hears you even when you cant put it into words…
He knows all about you, the good, the bad, and the ugly. The one that truly matters sees and cares about everything you are going through.
